source Source: The Legend of Zelda (Nintendo, 1986), composer Koji Kondo. The 5-note ascending discovery arpeggio plays when Link finds a secret passage or opens a chest. Used in nearly every mainline Zelda game since. Use case: every parking space is a hidden treasure. Trivia: Kondo based the Zelda musical vocabulary on classical European folk melody — the discovery jingle specifically evokes a trumpet fanfare, compressed into the NES chip's 5-channel audio.
