What is Tesla Tron Mode?
Tron Mode is a hidden Easter egg in Tesla's firmware that wraps the car's exterior LED strips in a continuously-cycling blue and white animation — referencing the aesthetic of Disney's Tron films. It activates through Toybox → Light Show on the touchscreen and plays an accompanying sound sequence while the lights run.
The result is a car that looks and sounds distinctly alien — the cold, synthesized hum that plays during the light show is exactly the vibe Tesla owners want as a permanent lock sound.
Key detail
Tron Mode replaces the exterior lighting — it does not automatically change your lock chime. To get a Tron-style sound on every lock, you install a custom LockChime.wav through Boombox.
Tesla Tron Mode lock & unlock sounds
These are the Tron-themed lock sounds in our library. Each one is pre-formatted as a 44.1 kHz 16-bit WAV named LockChime.wav — ready to drop onto a USB drive.
Tron Legacy Activation (digital grid chime)
Daft Punk's digital grid pulse from Tron Legacy — the chime that sounds like every system coming online at once as the Grid lights up around you.
Tesla Tron Intro (Cybertruck digital hum)
The digital hum from Tesla's Tron Mode — Daft Punk Grid energy filtered through Cybertruck minimalism, a sound born where brutalist design meets neon geometry.
Tesla Tron Mode Chime (digital grid activation)
The Tesla Tron Mode electro-grid confirmation chime — pulled from Tesla's built-in Easter egg soundtrack, dripping with Daft Punk neon.
Tron Mode — Turn Signal (digital directional ping)
A Tron Mode digital-directional ping — Light Cycle Daft Punk-flavored turn-signal click, the kind of UI sound an actual Grid program would hear.

Frequently asked questions
Does Tron Mode change the Tesla lock sound?
No — Tron Mode replaces your exterior lighting with blue-white animated LED patterns and changes the cabin ambient lighting, but it does not automatically swap your lock chime. To get the Tron-style digital hum as your lock sound, you install a custom LockChime.wav through the Boombox menu.
Can I install a custom Tron lock sound on my Tesla?
Yes. Every Tesla with Boombox (Model 3/Y/S/X/Cybertruck built after 2021) supports a custom LockChime.wav. Download one of the Tron sounds from our library, place it in a Boombox/ folder on a FAT32 USB drive, and select it in Toybox → Boombox → Lock Sound → USB.
What Tesla models support Tron Mode?
Tron Mode (also called "Light Show" in some firmware versions) is available on Model S, Model X, Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck. The feature is accessible via Toybox → Light Show on vehicles with the appropriate firmware version. Exact availability varies by build date and region.
How do I activate Tron Mode on my Tesla?
Go to Toybox → Light Show on your touchscreen. Tap the animated display to start the show — this triggers Tron Mode's exterior light animation. Alternatively, type 'xmas' in the browser search bar for a related Easter egg on some firmware versions.
What file format does the Tesla Tron lock sound need to be?
The file must be named LockChime.wav, formatted as 44.1 kHz 16-bit PCM WAV. Every sound you download from our library is already in the correct format — no conversion needed.
