Can I convert an MP3 to a Tesla lock sound?

Yes. Upload any MP3, M4A, WAV, or OGG file and this free online converter will trim it to 5 seconds and export it as LockChime.wav, the one filename Tesla recognizes.

What file format does a Tesla lock sound use?

Tesla lock sounds use a WAV file named LockChime.wav saved in a Boombox folder on a USB drive. For clean playback, 44.1 kHz, 16-bit PCM, 1–5 seconds, and under 1 MB are the recommended settings, and this converter applies them automatically.

Is this converter private and safe?

Yes. All processing happens entirely in your browser. Your audio is never uploaded to any server.

Can I trim or cut my audio before converting?

Yes. The built-in waveform editor lets you select the exact 5-second clip you want, then add fade in / fade out before exporting LockChime.wav.

Which Tesla models does this work with?

It works with every model that supports USB lock sounds: Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck.

How do I install the converted LockChime.wav?

Put the downloaded LockChime.wav on a FAT32 USB drive inside a folder named Boombox. Plug the drive into your Tesla, then go to Toybox → Boombox → Lock Sound and choose USB.
